Her responsibilities were varied and included: human resources; budget and cost control; products and services design and development; project planning and execution; team building; public relations; legislative advocacy; organizational structuring, policies and procedures; and working with volunteer Boards of Directors and committees.

In 1996, Frederiksen Bohannon left the executive management arena and started her own consulting business, wanting more flexibility to also work as the stay-at-home parent for the family's six children. She worked with companies to develop and/or revise their human resources policies and also began writing for publication and speaking on the subjects of her work. She has published six books and several articles for teens and adults, focusing in the areas of women's history, the civil rights movement, writing and publishing, diversity initiatives in the workplace and career awareness / job hunting strategies. Lisa's copy writing experience, both paid and volunteer, is extensive and comprises one portion of her consulting work, which also includes work/family balance and diversity initiatives in the workplace, human resources policies/procedures, and business writing and start-up / revision services.

Frederiksen Bohannon is a member of the League of Women Voters South San Mateo County, the National Organization for Women, the Association of American University Women, the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People and the Organization of American Historians. Her research, writing and speaking on the women's rights movement and its leaders put her in contact with the National Women's History Project (NWHP) and the opportunity to serve as a member of its Board of Directors.

Lisa Frederiksen Bohannon is presently consulting as the Project Manager for the Easy Voter Guide Project and Site Coordinator for the New Voices for Youth Project and writing for Careerkids. She lives in northern California.
